Have you ever heard of that saying before? Too many times in our lives we are unfortunately the nail. It's not something that I am just guilty of...It's something that we are all guilty of. It almost seems that our school systems are set up like this to mold us this way.
For life in America, It seems that from the age of 5 -18 you are told what to do, how to be, how to react, and the root of the problem is that it all starts in our school systems. And no, I don't think that it's our educators that are the one's that are making it this way. Teachers are some of the most compassionate people in our lives. They care for us, love us, and even act as parents for some of us. They are there for us. It's the system that is breaking us. When you take a school system and start to treat students like statistics, you are taking the human aspect out of the equation. We start to breed robot minds. Minds obsessed with other people's ideas of "success" and how to make money and not what our heart is telling us to do with our lives. Even in our school systems, we are losing our creative nature. Anyone with a passion for anything in the creative industry gets constantly told that there is no future in it.
Let me tell you something though,
No one is in charge of your happiness, except you. So break the mold and become the person you know you want to become.
If you want happiness, you have to go out and find it. You have to take control of your life and do what makes you happy. If we wait until we are ready to go find our happiness, we will be waiting our whole lives. You are imperfect, I am imperfect, and we are all imperfect and that's okay. We are going to make mistakes, but that is how we learn. Thomas Edison wouldn't have been the man he was, if he was scared of failure.
So go out and take that step today, and move in the direction of your happiness. Be the hammer, and take control of your life. We live in the age of opportunity.
We can sit back and keep making excuses with our lives, but that won't get us anywhere. Quit reacting to life and take control of it. Our opportunities are endless, and the more you treat your life as a hammer, the further you will get. And anytime you are down, just remember, you are not the nail - YOU ARE THE HAMMER.
