The first graph is averages from the major National polls for the Democratic Nomination in 2008.
As we all know, Obama ended up winning the Democratic Nomination in 2008, and becoming the President of the United States.
However, by looking at his national support on December 24,2007. You can see that he was at 25.2% Nationally.
This figure is 5.6% lower nationally than where Bernie Sanders currently sits at this time in this election cycle.
Now, take a look at this graph below,
This is the current 2016 Presidential Nomination graph.
By looking at this graph, you can see that Bernie Sanders has risen to 30.8% Nationally. This is 5.6% points higher than where Obama was in 2007.
At that time in 2007, many in the mainstream media were discrediting Barack Obama as being not a serious threat against Hillary Clinton too.
