The Democratic Primaries Explained -
And Why Phone Banking For Bernie Sanders Is So Direly Important
There is just under a month to go before the Democratic Primaries officially begin, and the voting process begins to take place.
For those of you who do not know, voting in a Presidential Primary/Caucus is very different than the voting that takes place in the General Election.
Firstly, the voting does not take place on the same day of the year for every person in the country, like it does in the the General Election.
In the Primaries/Caucuses, each state has a different time and date that they get the chance to go out and vote for their favorite candidate.
This election cycle, the first election is being held in Iowa (February 1st) and the last election will be held in Washington D.C. (June 14th).
This is a very long and enduring process for the candidates running for President with many candidates known to drop out early in this process.
With all of this being said, February is HUGE in the nominating process for these candidates. Many campaigns are won or lost in just this month alone.
Iowa (February 1st)
Latest Polling Results: Hillary Clinton 50%, Bernie Sanders 45%
New Hampshire (February 9th)
Latest Polling Results: Bernie Sanders 56%, Hillary Clinton 42%
Nevada (February 20th)
Latest Polling Results: Hillary Clinton 50%, Bernie Sanders 27%
South Carolina (February 27th)
Latest Polling Results: Hillary Clinton 67%, Bernie Sanders 31%
***Note that many of these polls are performed through landline phones and may not be accurate of where the candidates actually stand in these states. Many believe that Bernie Sanders may be performing a lot better in these states than these polls currently show. However, these polls tend to be the most accurate tool out there, and have proven to be very accurate for these elections in the past.***
We only have one month to go! Let's push ourselves and ensure that Bernie Sanders wins this election.
