What is your full name, age, career, and in what part of the world do you live?
Dina Layzis, 26, Pharmacist /Singer, NJ USA
What are you most passionate about in life and what drives that passion ?
Music is my passion in life. It is who I am and it is my way of communicating with the world. What drives me is the desire to hopefully affect positive change, inspire others and preserve the integrity of something very special. I believe music is one of the things in life that has amazing power and magic within its notes. It is one of the beautiful things in life that we should cherish and share.
If you had the opportunity to get a message across to a large group of people, what would your message be?
Tough one…hmm. I believe that people need to question the world around and always learn to make their own conscious conclusions. We have been conditioned to take things given to us as they are in many aspects of our lives, be it due to laziness, learned commonality or even lack of knowledge. We also need to return some basic humanity to humanity. Kindness seems to be rare thing nowadays. Many people have blinders on and try to live by the philosophy that what doesn’t affect them at the given moment can be swept aside. This kind of mindset has led to many devastating events in our worlds history and present. Just the basic essence of care and realizing that we are all part of the big picture would be a great message to make people hear and truly understand.
If today was the last day of your life, what would you want to do?
I would live it as any other day and stay close to those I love for as long as possible, smiling and laughing in the time I have. I would tell those I care for how much I love them and how much I want them to be happy. But as a life rule, I try to live not taking anything for granted. Things we love often are gone far too quickly. We should live our lives being thankful every day, even for the smallest things. Gratitude is one of the most important things in life. We should exercise it whether it is our last day or it isn’t. There are so many amazing things around us…we often overlook so so much.

What do you regret most so far in life?
I have always tried to live in a way not to have regrets. Things that went wrong should be learned from not regretted. The whole action/feeling really cannot get us anywhere or bring forth anything good.
If you had all the money in the world but still had to have some kind of job, what would you choose to do?
Easy – singer. I cannot live without music.
Describe the greatest adventure of your life
The greatest adventure of my life…is life. I need to get out more…haha. But, I think little moments that make up our lives make up this whole big adventure. I cannot narrow down a particular day/trip/experience because there are memories and takeaways in all. But, there always is the recent first ever camping / whitewater rafting trip I took took to Utah recently. That was quite an experience to say the least. 100+ degree weather in the day, miles of hiking, 40’s sleeping outside at night, add a body covered in spiny thorns, cough, sinus infection, and heat stroke to the mix and boy do you have an adventure :).
When did you not speak up, when you know you really should have?
There always are times when we wish “I should have said something”, but sometimes it just isn’t the right situation and could escalate a conflict instead of helping something. In general I try to be a pretty vocal person and an advocate for things I believe are good and right. By nature I was very shy when I was younger, but I made it a duty to overcome that. Also, having knowledge about things we believe in helps us speak up and teach others when needed. Hence I always try to expand what I know and base my beliefs and conclusions in facts.
What do you believe stands between you and complete happiness?
First and foremost happiness for me lies in the happiness of those I love. If I could create a life in which they would be happy then I can do so in turn. That is the plan :). 11. What makes you, you? Hmmm….My heart makes me, me. Everything I think and do essentially ends up coming back to what I feel in my heart. I am a very emotional person. I sometimes say “I feel too much at times”. My emotions are my greatest strength and my greatest weakness, but without them I would not be me. I would not be able to love how I love, sing how I sing, or truly feel and understand the small nuances of beauty in music. I would not be able to appreciate the beauty in simple things in life and nature. I would not have the empathy or concern for the world around and in general life would just be so empty. Feeling things the way I do you have to learn how to understand yourself. I have learned that emotions, good or bad are a part of life. Sometimes a pep talk with yourself is a great thing too, but I am thankful for this crazy emotional creature I am.
